A Dolton, Illinois cop taught a 15 year old special needs student a lesson for not tucking in his shirt. In the altercation, which was caught on security cameras, the student was thrown into lockers in the hallway and then pushed to the floor face first and pinned by the large officer. The student received a broken nose and a bloodied face, all for the “crime” of not having his shirt tucked in.

Kids have been killed before when the “face down take down” has been used on them. Too many police abuse their power and use excessive force on people for such minor issues.

Pittsburgh police warn and use tear gas to disperse protesters at the G20 summit in Pittsburgh. CNN Reporter Brian Todd feels the effects of the tear gas as he reports on the situation.

They had to admit it that those were indeed their officers at the protest.

Yet another senseless death after a man running naked in the street died after Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies shocked him with a taser.

The Star just posted about the RCMP announcement just this past week that “…police officers who use them (Tasers) on agitated or delirious people expose them to “the risk of death.” That blunt admission from Royal Canadian Mounted Police Commissioner William Elliott to Parliament’s public safety committee…”

“…So RCMP officers may now lawfully use the guns only “where it is necessary to do so in circumstances of threats to officer or public safety,” Elliott said. They shouldn’t be routinely hauled out to incapacitate obnoxious, resistant or erratic people…”

That of course was after several deaths in Canada from the use of tasers.

Will the numerous deaths in the USA force law enforcement there to review their taser use policy, or will the taser deaths continue on needlessly?

California cops tasered a distraught son whose father was drowning after he and his brother complained that police were not doing enough to rescue their dad, while authorities prevented the two sons from making any kind of rescue effort themselves.

The latest example of police brutality unfolded in Mendocino Country California. A San Francisco family was visiting Portuguese Beach when the father accidentally fell into the water and was washed away from the shore.

Police arrived with rescue crews but made no effort to save the drowning man, named as 54-year-old Maurizio Biasini, and prevented his two 18-year-old sons, Dario and Andriano Biasini, from helping their dad as they insisted on waiting for the Coast Guard and a Sheriff’s boat.

The sons’ protests about the inaction of the authorities led to a struggle and cops tackled one while the other was restrained. The son who the cops tackled was then tasered as he lay on the floor and tasered a second time as he attempted to get up.

The use of tasers by police is clearly being abused over and over again. You just have to look at our Police Brutality archives and see that people have lost their lives after being tasered by police.

Hurricane Gustav may have cut short the opening day of the Republican National Convention, but it didn’t stop police from using excessive force on protesters and even the journalists reporting on the events surrounding the 2008 RNC.

Democracy Now host Amy Goodman was arrested for nothing but asking why her colleagues, Sharif Abdel Kouddous and Nicole Salazar were assualted and arrested by police.

Democracy Now Says,

“All three were violently manhandled by law enforcement officers. Abdel Kouddous was slammed against a wall and the ground, leaving his arms scraped and bloodied. He sustained other injuries to his chest and back. Salazar’s violent arrest by baton-wielding officers, during which she was slammed to the ground while yelling, “I’m Press! Press!,” resulted in her nose bleeding, as well as causing facial pain. Goodman’s arm was violently yanked by police as she was arrested.”

“During the demonstration in which the Democracy Now! team was arrested, law enforcement officers used pepper spray, rubber bullets, concussion grenades and excessive force against protesters and journalists. Several dozen demonstrators were also arrested during this action, including a photographer for the Associated Press.”

Amy Goodman, Sharif Abdel Kouddous and Nicole Salazar have since been released. Goodman was charged with obstruction and felony riot charges are pending against Kouddous and Salazar.

Democracy Now states:

“Democracy Now! forcefully rejects all of these charges as false and an attempt at intimidation of these journalists. We demand that the charges be immediately and completely dropped.”

“Democracy Now! stands by Goodman, Kouddous and Salazar and condemns this action by Twin Cities’ law enforcement as a clear violation of the freedom of the press and the First Amendment rights of these journalists.”

This follows the weekend raids at the homes of protesters who were planning peaceful protests at the RNC.
