Israeli police destroyed a protest tent in East Jerusalem today, (Wednesday, October 28, 2009), that was set up outside two homes where Palestinian families were evicted and their houses, along with personal belongings, were demolished to make way for Jewish settlers.

Israeli authorities say the homes were built illegally without permits, but Palestinians say Israel makes it impossible to obtain the permits. In the video below the man states he has tried to obtain a permit for 15 years unsuccessfully.

Israel has been demolishing Palestinian’s homes for a long time now, and as the video states, another 1500 destruction orders are still pending.

Israel insists the whole city of Jerusalem belongs to them, even though that is not recognized by the international community. Even Israel’s ally the United States has denounced the demolition of Palestinian homes saying it harms efforts to restart peace talks.

Maybe Israel doesn’t really want peace. Maybe Israel wants to make Palestinians angry. Maybe Israel wants Palestinians to fight back, so they can justify bombing and killing them. Israel can then say…”See, they are terrorists. We have to defend ourselves.”, without allowing the Palestinians the right to defend themselves.

The United Nations is calling for a War Crimes investigation of Israeli forces in their attacks on Gaza when a UN school was hit by Israeli bombs.

Israeli forces pounded rocket-launching sites and smuggling tunnels in Gaza Saturday and planes dropped leaflets warning of an escalation in attacks, as Palestinian militants fired at least 15 more rockets at Israel.

Israeli forces continued their assault on Gaza, getting closer to major population centers on Tuesday and attacking new sites. A U.N. official said 30 people were killed and 55 were injured when artillery shells landed at the perimeter of a U.N. school.

Israel continued to ignore international pleas for a cease-fire and say they will continue the assault until Southern Israel is safe from incoming rocket attacks.

Israeli troops entered Gaza yesterday (Jan.3) as Israel begins a ground invasion of Gaza and continues it’s attacks directed at Hamas. Israel’s military says Israeli ground troops are crossing the Gaza border in an escalation of Israel’s week-old offensive against Hamas.

People have been protesting Israel’s attacks and the killing of Palestinians, while President Bush called Hamas’ attacks on Israel an “Act of Terror” in his Presidential Address. That’s nothing new coming from the Bush administration though. It doesn’t matter what Israel does as Bush will always say Israel is defending themselves. What can he say though after what he did in Iraq?
