Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich was arrested on what the U.S. attorney’s office calls a “corruption crime spree”, in which Blagojevich conspired to sell or trade the U.S. Senate seat left vacant by President-elect Barack Obama.
U.S. Attorney Patrick Fitzgerald states, “Governor Blagojevich has taken us to a truly new low.” Fitzgerald goes on to say, “I should make clear the complaint makes no allegations about the President-elect, whatsoever, his conduct.”
