According to reports, Barack Obama is set to announce his pick for his Vice Presidential running mate at any moment. With the Democratic National Convention starting on Monday, August 25, 2008, it is likely his pick for VP will come in the next day or two so the media can talk about it all weekend 24/7.
Who will it be? Well, the media has been throwing many names around lately, and Joe Biden has been thought to be one of the favorites on Obama’s short list of VP picks.
Now, Biden has the foreign policy experience that Obama needs in this Presidential campaign, but I don’t see Obama picking him as his VP running mate.
Who do I see Obama picking? Hillary Clinton!
The media was all over the “Dream Ticket” during the primary, and even though the talk of a Obama-Hillary ticket has disappeared as of late, I see Hillary Clinton becoming Obama’s VP pick. There is no other choice that will give him the boost he needs and will have the media drooling all over the place.
The Republican National Convention starts on Monday, September 1, 2008 and John McCain will be making his VP pick public very soon as well. The two names being floated around lately are Mitt Romney and Tim Pawlenty.
The media even tossed Joe Lieberman’s name in the GOP Veep Sweeps, Lieberman as a Republican VP running mate would be the dumbest pick in the history of VP picks. Although, Lieberman has had some strange election results as his opponents in 2000 and 2006 got the exact same amount of votes. Perhaps the electronic voting machines will bring the same results for McCain if Joe’s his VP mate.
For some reason I have always pictured Rudy Giuliani on the ticket, trumpeting 9/11, 9/11, 9/11 over and over. Rudy will be speaking at the convention, so we’re sure to get a good dose of 9/11’s.
Unfortunately, I don’t think it matters who these two presidential candidates pick as vice presidential running mates, as not much is going to change. We saw what happened after the 2006 election after Democrats ran on the issue of ending the Iraq war. People thought democrats would impeach Bush and Cheney, but Pelosi said “impeachment is off the table”.
McCain will continue the Iraq war, even for 100 years if he has to. He has joked about bombing Iran. He is the type that will bomb first and ask questions later it seems.
Obama will say CHANGE! CHANGE! CHANGE! over and over, but I see him giving in on things like he did with FISA recently. I don’t see him reversing the things that were implemented under the Bush administration and he will let Bush get away with the crimes he committed. I see troops being maintained at the permanent bases in Iraq for the foreseeable future.
The people are going to be duped once again, like they were in 2006 and previous elections. Then the process will start all over for the next election, until the people actually wake up to this false left-right paradigm that has them divided and conquered.
